New Eyes

Do they make me look more intelligent

I picked up my first pair of specs today. Although I am bummed my insurance provider is not a direct pay (I have to send in my receipts), I was thoroughly pleased and impressed with the local LensCrafters customer experience. The entire staff was genuinely nice, attentive, and fast (or they do a brilliant job of faking it). Thank you, Arden CA store!

Having my eyes dilated for the first time in my life was definitely a less than pleasant experience. Seems I'm one of those special cases who happens to be extra sensitive to the simple procedure. I had to wear my sunglasses, indoors and out, for several hours and quickly became a bit wobbly and nauseous. Not at all what I expected. Also seemed to last considerably longer than I was told to expect, several hours. My pupils are now back in order and the specs are great.

My vision is actually rather good, considering I've been staring at CRT's for decades. I guess those eye exercises really work. In any case, the specs are primarily a way to fight the effect of insomnia on my vision. My eyes end up so fatigued from a days work, I have a difficult/frustrating time reading in the evenings, and when I can't sleep (always). Now I can read again, instead of counting the same damned sheep I've been counting for... to long. Overall, I'm stoked!

So what do you think, do they make me look more intelligent?  ;)
